Course Outline

To be a responsible vessel owner, you should think ahead and create a plan for the time your vessel reaches the end of its life. You should recycle or dispose of the vessel legally and responsibly.

Determining the End of Life of a Vessel

The end of life for your vessel can occur at any time. Here are a few examples of when it can happen:

  • The vessel is no longer able to navigate safely on water.
  • You no longer want to own or operate the vessel.
  • The costs for maintenance and mooring are more than what you can afford.
  • The costs of repair are more than the vessel’s value.
