Requirements Specific to PWC
In addition to adhering to all boating laws, PWC operators have requirements specific to their boat.
- Every person on board a PWC must wear a USCG–approved life jacket. Inflatable life jackets are not approved to be worn on a PWC.
- An operator of a PWC equipped with a lanyard-type engine cut-off switch (ECOS) must attach the lanyard to his or her person, clothing, or life jacket.
- PWC must be muffled effectively and also must display the required navigation lights if operated between sunset and sunrise.
