Requirements Specific to PWC
PWC operators must follow all boating laws. In addition, PWC operators in Hawaii must comply with rules specifically for vessels classified as thrill craft. This includes all legal requirements previously discussed in this course, the following regulations, and all applicable thrill-craft rules for the area in which you are operating.
- Everyone on board a PWC must wear a properly fitting, USCG–approved life jacket at all times.
- The Hawaii DLNR recommends that an operator of a PWC equipped with a lanyard-type enigne cut-off switch (ECOS) attach the lanyard to his or her wrist or life jacket.
