Which Boats Require Registration?
Requirements for vessel registration vary from state to state. In Wyoming, a boat owner must have the title (certificate of ownership), the boat registration (Certificate of Number), and proper decals to legally operate on state waters. Exceptions to registration requirements are:
- Non-motorized sailboats, canoes, kayaks, and rowboats
- Vessels registered in another state or country using Wyoming waters for less than 90 consecutive days
- Vessels owned by the United States government
- Vessels documented with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG)
