Mufflers

Vessel operators may not hear sound signals or voices if the engine is not adequately muffled.

• All vessels must be equipped with a muffler or another method of noise suppression in good working order and in constant operation.
• The use of a cutout, bypass, or other device that continually or intermittently reduces or eliminates the effectiveness of the muffler system is prohibited.
• These requirements do not apply to vessels competing in an authorized marine event.
