Transcript for Water and Industrial Hazards

Narrator: First responders are exposed to many seen and unseen hazards during water rescue operations. Potential hazards include:

  • Electrical lines
  • Gas utilities
  • Entrapments from fencing, pipes, open grates, and manholes
The water will float and move buildings, vehicles, propane tanks, household and industrial debris. The water will carry sewage, chemicals, petroleum products, herbicides, and pesticides, and anything else that the water can come in contact with. Always survey the scene for hazards, wear mission-specific personal protective equipment, and have the proper training and knowledge to engage in this hostile environment.
