NIMS Resource Typing
Resource typing for specific disciplines identifies the capabilities of a resources component (personnel, equipment, and training) that is requested, deployed, and used in incidents. The standardization of resources by typing (I – IV) allows the agency requesting the resource to know what they are getting.
- Type I teams have the highest level of capability while a type IV team is much smaller and has limited capabilities based upon personnel, equipment, and training.
- Specific details are given in the FEMA “Typed Resource Definitions” publication.
