AHJ's Responsibilities
The Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) is the local organization that handles rescue operations.
The AHJ is responsible for:
- Enforcing code and standard requirements
- Establishing capability levels
- Training rescuers
- Conducting hazard identification and risk assessment for a response area
- Planning for incident response
- Approving equipment (operational and PPE)
- Determining to what level of functional capability an organization prepares
