Reckless and Unsafe Operation
These dangerous operating practices are illegal under Oregon law.
Reckless Operation is operating a boat carelessly in willful disregard of the rights, safety, or property of others. Some examples of reckless operation are:
- Boating in restricted areas without regard for other boaters or persons, posted speeds and wake restrictions, diver-down flags, etc.
- Jumping the wake of another boat unnecessarily close to that boat or buzzing other boats
Unsafe Operation is operating a boat in a manner that endangers or is likely to endanger any person or property. An example of unsafe operation is causing damage from the wake of your boat.
