Oregon Online Boating Safety Course and Exam

Welcome to the official boating safety course developed for the Oregon State Marine Board. This safe boating course lets you get your Oregon Boater Education Card online so that you can comply with Oregon boater education law.

	1 - This boat safety course is user-friendly and self-directed. Study at your own pace!
	2 - Take the official Oregon boating safety Certification Exam. Pay $24.50—one time only, after you pass.
	3 - When you pass, you may instantly print out a Certificate of Completion online. This will serve as your temporary operating permit for 60 days.

Who needs the Oregon Boater Education Card, and when?

By 2009 all operators of powerboats will be required to carry the Boater Education Card. The phase-in schedule for boaters is as follows:

• 50 and younger by 2006
• 60 and younger by 2007
• 70 and younger by 2008
• All boaters by 2009

(In lieu of the term boating license Oregon refers to its mandatory proof of education as the Oregon Boater Education Card.)

Have you lost your card? If so, you can not take another online exam to obtain a replacement. The Oregon State Marine Board will not send a second boater education card to a person who has already received one.

Oregon State Marine Board (OSMB) rules limit each boater to one boater education card each. Faulty cards will be replaced at no charge, however the old card must be returned. If an individual loses or damages their boater education card, they should call 503-378-8587 for instructions on having it replaced. Lost or otherwise damaged cards will be replaced for an $8 fee.
