Chapter 4: The Legal Requirements of Boating
Enforcement

The boating laws of Kentucky are enforced by the officers of the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources. They have the authority to stop and board vessels in order to check for compliance with federal and state laws. The U.S. Coast Guard has enforcement authority on federally controlled waters.

Enforcement of boating laws and regulations is the responsibility of the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources' officers. Some of the waters of the state are also patrolled by other agencies such as the U.S. Coast Guard. Kentucky Dept. of Fish and Wildlife Resources logo
