How do I take my state's online safe boating
course?
- Study, on your own time and at your
own pace. Boat Ed's online boating
safety course material is available for free, and you
may study in as many sessions as you like.
- Take one or more Practice Tests—free
of charge. A different set of actual boater exam questions
is presented each time you take a Practice Test.
How do I take my boat safety exam and get my official boater
education card or certificate?
- When you've mastered the boat safety course material, take
the official Certification Exam to earn your
boater safety education certificate. You can take your
boater exam online, at your convenience.
- When you pass the boating safety exam, you will receive
official proof of completing your state's boating safety
course. Some states allow students to immediately
print out a boater education card or certificate. Other
states mail the boat license or permanent boater education
card. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to receive
the required boat license or boater education card before
you get on the water. The exact process for receiving
a card in your state will be explained when you go to your
state's boating safety course.
Will other states honor my boater safety certification
or do I have to take the course for each state I boat in?
Your boater license or boat safety course certificate will
be accepted for almost every other state you may visit. Exceptions
are for jet ski or PWC operators in Connecticut and Utah,
and youth boat and PWC operators in Colorado. These three
states require their own state-specific course. In all other
cases, states reciprocate if the certification is from a
course that is approved by the National Association of Boating
Law Administrators (NASBLA). All of our courses are NASBLA-approved.
In all cases, you must meet the state's age requirements
for the state in which you plan to boat or ride a PWC. |
