Taking this safe boating course will allow you to get your Minnesota boater education certificate online.

Pay $20.00—one time only, after you pass. When you pass, immediately print out a temporary certificate, which will serve as your temporary operating permit for 30 days.

Who Needs a Minnesota Boating Safety Education Certificate?

• Motorboat operators 12 to 17 years of age who wish to operate engines over 25 horsepower must have either a Watercraft Operator's Permit, or someone at least 21 years old on board who is within reach of the controls.
• PWC operators 13 years of age must have either someone at least 21 years old on board, or a Watercraft Operator's Permit and be under continuous observation by someone at least 21 years old. PWC operators 14 to 17 years of age must have either someone at least 21 years old on board, or a Watercraft Operator's Permit.
